The wine harvesting has to go very quickly this year with many winegrowers. A good qualitatively good, but not so productive is expected.
Unusually early ripe grapes and then long -lasting rain: Many winemakers in the 13 German wine -growing regions had to hurry up this year. The German Wine Institute (DWI) in Bodenheim in the Rheinhessische Bodenheim expects a “great vintage” after turbolese, as DWI spokesman Ernst Büscher from the German Press Agency said.
The grapes have already been harvested from Baden to the Rheingau, on the other hand, on Moselle, Middle Rhine, near and Ahr, a good week will be read. And the reading is still in progress in the cultivation areas of Saale-Unstrut and in Saxony.
“In 2025, in any case, a great Burgundy and Red wine class will be,” said Büscher. But other early ripe varieties such as the Müller-Thurgau would also have benefited from late summer weather. “The red wine grapes presented themselves as well as aromainty during the reading.”
Harvest quantities a little lower than expected
Harvest quantities are expected to be a little lower than expected before autumn, as Büscher said. As the reason, he mainly mentions smaller grape berries and partly below average coast.
Investments of the companies in fast grapes were also paying off this year, said Büscher. This is increasingly necessary for the betting extremes in times of climate change.
