Lufthansa Group plans to dismantle 4,000 jobs by 2030

The Lufthansa Group plans to save 4,000 jobs in the administration by 2030. The processes are to be digitized, automated and bundled, the company announced for the capital market day in Munich. It specified unconfirmed reports from the previous week.

In addition, the medium -term financial goals are raised. Europe’s largest air traffic company with around 103,000 employees in the future plans to achieve an operational profit (adjusted EBIT) of 8 to 10 percent of sales. So far, the target brand of 8 percent has been true. Management has been optimistic about the current year. The operational profit before special items (adjusted EBIT) should significantly exceed the previous year’s value of 1.6 billion euros as planned.

For more lucrative business, the various airlines of the group are to be summarized and controlled centrally. In addition to the crising core brand Lufthansa, the company operates the airlines Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines and is a minority owner of the Italian ITA. The direct airline Eurowings is strengthened as well as logistics and the maintenance business, which is to establish itself in the growth field of defense.

The aim of all measures is to provide the company sustainable and to achieve sustainably attractive returns for shareholders. The shareholders could still expect a dividend of 20 to 40 percent of the group profit.

First of all, the management also has to deal with an impending strike by the pilots. This Tuesday (September 30th) ends the coordination of the Pilot Union Association Cockpit (VC). She called on its members at the Lufthansa core company and the freight daughter Lufthansa Cargo to decide on an industrial action. The dispute are the company pensions. Lufthansa had rejected the demands as priceless.
