Russian airlines are exploring options for further maintenance of their aircraft after the imposition of EU sanctions, a source in one of the leasing companies told Izvestia. Various options are being worked out on how to maintain airworthiness in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, the source said.

A source in one of the airlines noted that carriers are waiting for messages from lessors demanding to “ground” the planes.
One of the meetings in the Ministry of Transport on the situation with sanctions was held on February 26. However, according to sources in the airlines, no decisions were made on it. One of the top managers said that now the EU documents are being studied by the airline’s lawyers.
Another meeting at the ministry is scheduled for Monday morning, February 28, a source in the Federal Air Transport Agency said. There, as expected, the issue of interaction with foreign lessors will be discussed, he specified.

Airbus told Izvestia that they would act in accordance with the applicable sanctions and regulations, but would try to “minimize their impact on the company’s activities.” A representative of Boeing in Russia and the CIS said that the company is also monitoring the situation, lawyers are studying all the risks.
