Bahn: New boss Evelyn Palla announces major renovations

“Everything is different”
New railway boss promises a completely new beginning

Evelyn Palla is the new boss of the railway and wants to turn it around. And promises less bureaucracy – and an end to sleazy features.

Evelyn Palla has been the new boss of Deutsche Bahn since October 1st. In an interview, she announced that she wanted to completely restructure the group and significantly improve the quality of the federally owned company. “We’re turning the company inside out: I’m betting on a completely new beginning,” . “To do this we have to do everything differently than before.”

The new railway boss announced tough cuts at headquarters: “I check every job for added value for our customers. The administration must serve the railway worker.”

Many decisions should therefore no longer be made at the headquarters – the Bahntower in Berlin: “I’m making the people on site the decision-makers,” said Palla. “They are the backbone of our company. They too deserve a fresh start.”

According to her, there should be no more dirty trains, dingy train stations and closed, defective on-board bistros in the future. There will be a digital “construction site detector” for rail customers so they can plan their journey better.
