The Government eliminated several regulations in the countryside to simplify agricultural regulations

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries eliminated a set of regulations issued between 1991 and 2006 considered obsolete, within the framework of the deregulation process promoted by the Government.

The Ministry of Agriculture estimates this year’s wheat production at 8.3 million tons, a figure that brings the crop back to the same volume reached 27 years ago.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheriesdependent on Ministry of Economyordered the repeal of a series of resolutions issued between 1991 and 2006 that were considered “obsolete or superseded by subsequent regulations”with the objective of simplifying and updating the regulatory framework of the agricultural sector.

The measure was made official through the Resolution 209/2025published this Wednesday in the Official Gazetteand is part of the process of deregulation and modernization of the State arranged by him Decree 70/2023which seeks to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and facilitate free private initiative.

He resolution annexprepared by the National Directorate of Plant Protection of SENASAlists eight provisions that are without effect. These include historical norms such as Resolution 302/1991which created the Argentine Quality Certificate for exported grains; the 209/1994which set tariffs from the then Argentine Institute of Plant Health and Quality (IASCAV); and the 1040/1994on the National Registry of Plant Therapeutics.

Regulations on post-entry quarantines of vegetables (Resolution 292/1998), the production and marketing of olive plants (Resolution 811/2000), and regulations linked to the fruit sector and pest control like the Carpocapsa (Resolutions 391/2001, 1269/2004 and 497/2006).

According to the official text, the National Directorate of Plant Protection of SENASA prepared the proposal to repeal the specific regulations, after considering that they were unnecessary for the current functioning of the health and commercial control system.

The resolution cites as background the State Modernization Plan (Decree 434/2016) and the good regulatory practices established by Decree 891/2017, which urge the review and elimination of regulations that constitute unnecessary burdens.

Among the repealed provisions are regulations on grain quality certification, tariffs of the former Argentine Institute of Plant Health and Quality, plant therapeutic records, quarantine procedures, production of nursery plants and control of pests such as Carpocapsa.

The text emphasizes that the initiative seeks to “deepen and unify the regulatory changes” to grant greater simplicity, transparency and reasonableness to sector procedures. The resolution, signed by the secretary Sergio Iraetawill come into effect tomorrow.
