The measure was ordered by the Ministry of Economy and temporarily rescinds the antidumping duties in force while the investigation is carried out.
He Ministry of Economythrough Resolution 1622/2025 published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette, declared the opening of an examination by expiration of term and change of circumstances of the antidumping measures imposed in 2020 on the import of electric motors for washing machines originating from the People’s Republic of China.
The provision, signed by the minister Luis Caputoestablishes that during the development of the procedure the antidumping duties that had been set five years ago by the then Ministry of Productive Development will not remain in force.

The exam will be applied to “alternating current, single-phase, asynchronous motors” already the “universal electric motors” for voltages between 110 and 240 volts and powers between 37.5 and 750 watts, used in washing machines, which enter the country under the tariff positions 8501.10.29, 8501.10.30, 8501.20.00 and 8501.40.19 of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM).
According to the official text, the National Foreign Trade Commission (CNCE) determined that there are sufficient elements to justify reopening the investigationgiven the possibility that the elimination of current duties would cause a repetition of damage to national production.
Impact on the national industry
The organization indicated that between 2022 and 2024 the production of the petitioning company, Weg Electrical Equipment SAfell a 44%while domestic sales fell by 73% in the period January-July 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. Furthermore, the use of installed capacity descended from 41% to 15%with a constant decline in employment.
The CNCE report also detected a average dumping margin of 56.17% in exports of Chinese engines to Argentina and a recurrence margin of 32.94% considering shipments to Chile as a reference market.

The Ministry of Economy ordered that the analysis period for determining dumping will be included between August 2024 and July 2025while the examination of damage to the national industry will cover from January 2022 to July 2025.
Interested parties will be able to access the questionnaires to participate in the procedure through the CNCE website (www.argentina.gob.ar/cnce/cuenarios) and will have a 30 day period from the publication of the resolution to present the corresponding documentation and evidence.
