The Secretary of the Treasury congratulated the Argentine president on the legislative victory of LLA and highlighted the direction of reforms towards greater economic openness. He assured that the relationship between Argentina and the US “was never so strong.”
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, one of the president’s closest advisors donald trumpcongratulated the Argentine president Javier Milei on the result of the legislative elections, in which Freedom Advances It won in 16 provinces and exceeded 40% of the votes nationwide.
“Congratulations to President @JMilei for the successful La Libertad Avanza midterm elections. President Milei has a renewed mandate for change,” Bessent wrote on his social networks, highlighting the performance of the ruling party in the elections.
In his message, the founder of the fund Key Square Capital Management and former chief investment officer of Soros Fund Management maintained that the Argentina is a vital ally in Latin Americaand that the election results are “a clear example that the Trump Administration’s policy of Peace through Economic Strength is working.”
Bessent also highlighted the expectation that the Argentine Government “continue moving towards greater economic freedom”noting that this direction “will attract investment from the private sector and job creators, bringing prosperity to the Argentine people.”
The economist, considered one of the most influential men in Trump’s economic environment, also highlighted that, “under the leadership of President Trump, the relationship between the United States and Argentina has never been stronger” and assured that “Latin America is heading towards a bright economic future.”
