American companies operating in the country reaffirmed the commitment “to the sustainable and competitive development of the country” and they referred to the results of the elections which, according to them, offer “a new opportunity to move towards the structural transformations that Argentina needs.”
“Achieving macroeconomic stability and deregulation have been a great achievement of the first two years of President Milei’s administration. However, Argentina needs to improve its competitiveness, modernize its infrastructure, simplify its tax system, adapt the rules on modern labor relations and promote labor and tax formality“they explained in a statement.
Along this path, AmCham stressed that “it is essential” to form a regulatory framework “that provide predictabilityencourage investment and generate the necessary conditions so that companies can produce, innovate and generate jobs quality”.
To achieve this goal it is necessary “the exercise of dialogue and the search for agreements” between all the actors and, in particular, between the Executive Branch and the Legislative Branchto “implement reforms that promote a business environment towards sustainable development.”
Amcham called for containment policies for vulnerable sectors
Beyond the urgency of the reforms, they also stated that they must be accompanied by containment policies. “We also know that processes of change require balance. Therefore, along with the removal of regulatory barriers and the creation of an environment for growth, it will be critical for the State to accompany this stage with transition policies that protect employability and contain the impact on the most vulnerable sectors and the middle class, during the next two years,” they noted.
The United States Chamber of Commerce in Argentina stressed that the country It has a series of resources “with enormous potential” so that it can achieve a path of sustained growth. In this sense, strategic minerals, qualified human talent and sectors such as agribusiness, energy, mining, technology and the knowledge economy stood out.
“Unleashing that potential requires removing the obstacles that today limit its growth and its ability to compete in the world”they continued in the statement and added: “Giving certainty will allow the country risk to fall in a sustained manner, allowing both our country and companies to regain the possibility of accessing the international credit market.”
At the end, AmCham reaffirmed its willingness “to accompany this process, promoting an environment of predictability, dialogue and cooperation between all sectors, with the purpose of finally turning Argentina into a competitive country.”
