A sensitive topic: How companies deal with 3G controls

There is no longer any obligation to provide 3G proof, and it is no longer mandatory to wear masks. However, some companies remain skeptical, as a broadcast shows: the restrictions are not falling everywhere.

Strict rules continue to apply in the energy industry: There will be no significant easing in the companies, according to a broadcast by Oesterreichs Energie (140 companies, 25,000 employees). The isolation of operating teams was reduced. There will be no further easing, said Secretary General Barbara Schmidt.

The regulations in a number of industrial companies remain strict. Palfinger CEO Andreas Klauser says clearly that the easing is four to six weeks too early for the plants. Similarly, Peter Wienerroither from the automotive supplier TCG Unitech in Kirchdorf: “We’re keeping 3G. We’ve been able to identify individual cases with testing. We can’t risk that the departments are at risk.”

Free choice for employees

At the fire brigade outfitter Rosenbauer from Leonding, relaxation is the order of the day: “We will no longer control 3G at work,” says company spokesman Tiemon Kiesenhofer. Individual workstations have been set up in production so that the minimum distances can be guaranteed. In the administrative area, Rosenbauer is keeping the home office, meetings are held virtually as far as possible.

At the fashion retailer Fussl with its main store in Ort/Innkreis, the employees can decide whether they want to wear a mask. The obligation to test is no longer applicable: “Some no longer want to wear a mask, some will wear it when contacting customers, but not when sorting,” says Managing Director Karl Mayr. If the customer wishes, the mask will be put on.

The 3G control is also no longer applicable at the food retailer Lidl: However, the employees, like the customers, must continue to wear FFP2 masks in the supermarket.

The construction company Habau from Perg assumes that they will continue to apply the 3G regulation and the obligation to wear masks until next week.
