The net profit for the year was EUR 127.7 million, after a deficit of EUR 10.6 million in the previous year. Earnings before depreciation (EBITDA) increased by 89 percent to EUR 362.9 million, the operating result (EBIT) increased six-fold to EUR 200.6 million. For 2022, Lenzing is aiming for a higher EBITDA than 2021.
Sales rose by 34 percent to 2.195 billion euros, the company announced on Thursday with almost 7,960 employees. They have benefited from the focus on wood-based specialty fibers and the predominantly positive environment. Lenzing explained that the increasing optimism in the textile and clothing industry as a result of the vaccination progress and the ongoing recovery in the retail sector have caused demand and prices on the global fiber market to rise sharply, especially at the beginning of the reporting year.
