The idea that is put together is that these additional resources can count for up to US$400 million and be part of a fund or trust that would allow financing and subsidizing small and medium-sized producers, bakeries and pasta manufacturers, so that the increase in gondolas motorized by the international rise in the price of wheat can be appeased, in part.

The Solidarity Law provides that the Executive power can set export duties and take them up to a limit of 33% for soybeans and up to 15% for wheat, corn and meat. Along these lines, while grain soybeans are taxed at 33%, corn and wheat are taxed at 12%. For meat, the tax is 9%, so it could be increased to 15%. On the other hand, powdered milk could also suffer an increase in the tax.

President Alberto Fernández could begin with a series of announcements of the respective decrees starting today. In the Government they estimate that this could be part of a broader anti-inflationary plan, alerted by the numbers that the Indec will show tomorrow for February inflation (around 4% average but more in food) but above all the first data from March, where there would have been increases in food of up to 4% weekly.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Agriculture closed the Registry of Sworn Declarations of Sale Abroad for soybean oil and flour in the afternoon. It did so through an official statement addressed to the export sector, signed by Javier Preciado, undersecretary of agricultural markets, who during the 2019 electoral campaign officiated as agricultural coordinator of the PJ.

From the entities that represent the field, they issued a statement warning of the rejection of the measure. “As a result of the versions that indicate that the national government is considering raising the withholdings on wheat and corn, the Liaison Commission of Agricultural Entities expresses its strong rejection and anticipates that there is no room for them to continue plundering the producers,” they said.

In the publication, they had stated that “after the agreement with the IMF was sanctioned in the Chamber of Deputies, versions are circulating that indicate that the Fernández government is considering taking this measure that would once again harm agricultural producers. In this scenario, the CEEA rejects any intention to increase withholdings, as well as any other distorting intervention in the markets”.

“There is no more room for groping or to continue plundering us as a sector, or subjugating us. Producers from all over the country We will not allow or hesitate to defend our rights as we did 14 years ago, exactly on a day like today.”they remembered.
