Climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) said on Tuesday that work is being done on diversifying supplier countries and on gas storage.
Last year Austria had very low gas storage levels before the winter. The question is whether these are sufficient or whether a strategic reserve should be considered, said the minister. According to Gewessler, one of the most important instruments for counteracting dependence on Russian gas and fossil fuels is the climate and energy fund. This starts the new funding year 2022 with a budget of almost 300 million euros.
After the ÖAMTC, the German motoring club ADAC also criticized yesterday that fuel at the pumps remains expensive despite falling crude oil prices.
