Companies: Survey among medium-sized companies: Slight majority in favor of mandatory vaccination

According to a survey, a narrow majority of medium-sized companies in Germany are in favor of a general vaccination requirement – if this could prevent a new lockdown. This is the result of a quick survey by the Federal Association of Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW).

The following question was asked: “Would you agree to a general compulsory vaccination if this would prevent a new lockdown and school closings and the restrictions on civil liberties could be lifted again?” Almost 54 percent of the companies answered with yes, 45 percent with no, almost one percent had no opinion. Around 2,950 companies took part in the survey.

BVMW Federal Managing Director Markus Jerger told the German Press Agency: “The result of the survey reflects the helplessness and lack of plan of the federal government’s corona policy. Small and medium-sized businesses are very concerned about an impending new lockdown, which would have dramatic consequences for our economy and would mean the ultimate economic end for many small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, there is obviously considerable uncertainty among medium-sized companies about the federal government’s vaccination strategy. “

Small and medium-sized enterprises finally need planning security and a perspective for the future, says Jerger. “Here the federal government has to deliver immediately, regardless of the federal election. Every further day stirs up uncertainty and doubts about the federal government’s ability to act. ” For the majority of medium-sized companies, it is important that there is a clear and binding rejection of a new lockdown.

The federal government is against compulsory vaccination in Germany. In the United States, the two Internet giants Google and Facebook announced that their employees in the United States would have to be vaccinated against the coronavirus before returning to their offices.
