The economy grew more than 5% annually in February, according to Ferreres

The figure differs from the estimate of the Center for Production Studies (CEP), which anticipated a rebound of more than 10% in the industry during the second month of the year.

According to the numbers from the CEP, which reports to the Ministry of Productive Development, 11 of the 14 industrial sectors showed positive year-on-year variations, and 8 of 14 grew compared to January 2022. Specifically, improvements in the basic metal industry stood out (+17.7% year-on-year), chemicals (+10.3%), beverages (+10.2%) and non-metallic minerals (+9.1%).

At the same time, according to Ferreres the building chained its fifteenth consecutive rise by rebounding 3.5%, and the agro presented an increase of 1.6%.

With these numbers, in the first two months the IGA grew by 3.8% versus the same period last year.

“For the next few months we do not expect great advances in terms of activity, and the weak internal macroeconomics are joined by challenges from the external front, especially at the energy level,” the consultant projected for the future.
