Today’s meetings will be with representatives of the Argentine Federation of the Bread and Allied Industries (FAIPA), the Industrial Bakery Federation of the Province of Buenos Aires (FIPPBA) and the Chamber of Industrial Bakers of CABA.
It will also receive the leaders of the Association of Owners of Pizzerias, Houses of Empanadas and Related Activities; the Fresh Pasta Chamber; and the Association of Small and Medium Milling Industries of the Argentine Republic (Apyminra).
The meetings are held three weeks after the wheat trust was made official in the Official Gazette despite the unrest in the sector. The trust will be valid until January 31, 2024, which contemplates 800,000 tons for local consumption and establishes reference prices for basic foods such as dry noodles and flour through the Care Prices program. In the resolution, the ministries detail that the “trust must ensure the general economic interest of the population, through an Internal System of Financial Assistance that, preserving market freedom and free competition, guarantees internal supply and ensures fair prices and reasonable for consumers.
Recently, the INDEC reported that inflation accelerated again in February and reached 4.7%, thus accumulating a 52.3% variation in the last twelve months. One of the most affected items was baked goods, which registered increases of between 3.7% and 5.8% per month, surpassed only by the categories of fruits and vegetables, and dairy products.
