The three managers, who previously held a minority stake, are thus taking over the company faster than originally planned. Gerhard Hunger, Christian Nimmervoll and Christian Ernst are now the sole owners of the 35 million turnover company, which earns its money by renting construction equipment.
Hunger, who celebrated his 65th birthday a few days ago, holds the majority of the shares. The long-standing managing director will also remain operationally on board. His sons Lukas and Georg have also been with the company for a number of years. The latter as head of the largest rental location at the company headquarters in Wels. Lukas works in finance and human resources.
Step by step to the successor
Andreas Leyer, the son of CFO Christian Ernst, also works in the company. Co-partner Christian Nimmervoll is the operational manager and says that the successors are being prepared for the long term and that the next generation will be introduced to all areas of the company and to customer service.
GT Gerätetechnik was once the group’s own Bilfinger equipment rental subsidiary. The Bilfinger Group in Germany and the former sister companies in Austria are still important customers. The first lockdown brought a massive drop in orders in 2020 – the company has still not recovered from this in terms of sales. From 45 million followed the crash to 30 million, most recently it was 35 million euros.
Business is currently going well, says Nimmervoll. Because plant builders in Germany are preparing for the commissioning of decommissioned power plants, the order situation is higher than expected. Of the 180 employees, 125 work in Austria and the rest in Germany.
The landlord is currently feeling the lack of work equipment and vehicles. It starts with wrenches. “Instead of 100, five are delivered in installments,” says Nimmervoll. Panel vans and flatbed trucks are currently being ordered with a delivery time of 2024. “We have enough tools in stock, but predictability is the problem.” (sib)
