Strong improvement in income distribution in the fourth quarter of 2021

The Greater equity in income distribution was reflected in the Gini Coefficient, a mathematical relationship that has 0 (zero) as the level of greatest equality and 1 (one) as the greatest imbalance..

Regarding the employed population, an average income of $55,512 and a median income of $45,000 were recorded, equivalent to the upper income limit of decile 5, under which 50% of employed persons fall.

The average income of the first four deciles of the population, ordered according to the income of the main occupation, was $19,941. The average income of the middle stratum (deciles 5 to 8) was $53,608, while the income of deciles 9 and 10 was equivalent to $130,534.

Regarding the salaried population, 9,026,021 people with an average income of $55,823 were registered.

The average income of salaried people with retirement discount was $68,879 (+54.4% year-on-year), while in the case of those without retirement discount, the average income was equivalent to $28,592 (+53.1% year-on-year)

In the case of households, labor income represented 77.0% of total income, while non-labor income reached the remaining 23.0%.

The weight of non-labor income was greater for the lowest total family income deciles: it was 63.6% in the first and 13.5% in the tenth.

Regarding the dependency ratio of households, the number of unemployed persons was 129 for every 100 employed persons, while the number of non-income earners was 65 for every 100 earners (tables 8 and 10).

This relationship is greater in the case of the lowest deciles. For decile 1, for example, it is equal to 287 unemployed persons per 100 employed persons and 161 non-earners per 100 earners, if households are arranged according to family per capita income.

In the same quarter of the previous year, the values were 369 and 180, respectively. In the case of decile 10, the corresponding values were 42 unemployed persons per 100 employed persons and 16 non-recipients per 100 recipients.
