The gender gap was evident again, since men had an average income of $60,132, while that of women was $45,154.
The INDEC report reflected that 77% of income came from a labor source, while the remaining 23% came from non-labor sources.
Regarding the employed population, an average income of $55,512 was registered. The average income of the poorest was $19,941. The average income of the middle class was $53,608, while the income of the richest was equivalent to $130,534.
If the EPH data is projected to the total population, by the end of 2021 almost 20 million people were registered with employment, equivalent to 43.6% of the population.
Of that total, 14.6 million were wage earners (9.7 million formal and 4.9 million informal), 4.6 million were self-employed and almost 700,000 were “employers.”
The average income of salaried people with a retirement discount grew by 54.4% year-on-year to $68,879, while in the case of those without a retirement discount, the average income was equivalent to a 53.1% rise to $28,592. Both rises slightly exceeded inflation for the period.
Compared to 2019, there was an increase in formal salaried employment and self-employment, and a contraction in informal salaried employment.
In terms of purchasing power, during the last two years the family income per capita of the first four deciles managed to beat the inflation of the period, although those of the third and fourth could not exceed the increase in the cost of the basic food basket ( CBA), which measures the indigence line.
The 5th and 6th deciles lost against inflation and the CBA, but beat the total basic basket (CBT), which measures the poverty line. While the four highest income deciles had an absolute loss of purchasing power.
