The understanding is part of the government’s strategy to ensure energy supply by 2022, after the gas agreement announced yesterday with Bolivia. “Together with the Bolivia agreement, it gives us a horizon of much greater certainty in the energy field to give predictability to demand,” Guzman told Telam.
The minister also pointed out that both countries are “designing a roadmap to work on energy integration, seeking to generate conditions for regulatory frameworks and development to raise the production scale that can lower the cost of production and have an impact on the industry.”
Before the meeting with Alburquerque, the minister was the main speaker at a meeting attended by 200 local businessmen, which took place in the Fiesp auditorium. There, the official explained the fundamentals of Argentine macroeconomics and the business and investment opportunities in the country by the entrepreneurs of its main trading partner.
The ambassador in Brazil, Daniel Sciolihighlighted Guzmán’s visit as one more step in the integration and above all because the meeting had been requested by the head of Fiesp, Josué Gomes da Silva, who has textile investments in Santiago del Estero and is a great connoisseur of the industrial fabric Argentinian.
“That Brazil guarantees Argentina’s energy security by sending electricity as needed between May and September is a goal fulfilled for the coordinated work that we have been carrying out from the embassy together with Minister Guzmán in front of the Brazilian authorities,” Scioli said.
Speaking to the businessmen, the minister emphasized that “Argentina and Brazil are sister countries that have to work together” and that the challenge of the moment is to carry out “a joint agenda for the development of the energy system in our continent.”
The head of the Palacio de Hacienda invited Brazilian businessmen to invest in Argentina by pointing out that “the most important energy resource is Vaca Muerta” and that “there are opportunities in upstream, oil and gas, to develop new regional natural gas markets.” Guzmán confirmed that they are also working “to be able to produce LNG” in Argentina and become an exporting country.

Regarding the foreign exchange market, the minister said that “the exchange rate gap, the difference between the parallel exchange rate and the official exchange rate, is decreasing significantly, from 120% to 70%, after the approval of the agreement with the IMF”.
“We are looking for a joint agenda for the development of the energy system in our continent. The countries that have a more decisive role in this are Brazil and Argentina because of their economic conditions and also because of the resources they have,” he remarked.
The delegation that accompanied Guzmán was made up of the Secretary of Economic Policy, Fernando Morra; the undersecretary of Energy Planning, Santiago López Osornio; the Secretary of Tax Policy, Roberto Arias; the director of the Central Bank, Guillermo Hang; and the Chief of Cabinet for Economic Policy, Mariana Quarteroni, among others.
