Have you ever wondered which country has the most super-rich people? The Statista graphic shows where the pepper bags of the world are based.
Forbes counted 2,755 billionaires worldwide for “The Richest in 2021” – that’s 660 super-rich more than the year before. This means that a new billionaire was “born” about every 17 hours last year.
USA is the country of billionaires
The United States tops the list of the fabulously rich with 724 billionaires, followed by China with 698 billionaires including Hong Kong and Macau. Germany (136 billionaires) ranks fourth ahead of Russia.
In the case of the latter, however, the usual term is oligarch – of which the country has 118 examples. Very few of the super-rich live in South America (85) or Africa (16). Germany’s top 3 are occupied by the Aldi heirs (Beate Heister, Karl Albrecht Junior and family), Dieter Schwarz (Kaufland/Lidl) and Susanne Klatten (heiress to industrialist Herbert Quandt).
