In short, one in four of the surveyed industries stated that these problems limited their exports.
The UIA economist confirmed that the problem is being addressed with the Government in different instances of dialogue. “There are also other issues that are being worked on and can improve export performance, such as greater access to foreign currency to import supplies, increased financing, which is a problem that has dragged our economy for many years,” Dragún concluded.
The survey marks another of the local factors influencing the uncertainty prior to the agreement with the International Monetary Fund. “Taking into account the traditional volatility of the month of January, the indicators reflected a certain deterioration compared to the same period of 2021,” says the work. 30.1% of the companies indicated that they increased their sales to the domestic market during January 2022 in relation to the previous quarter and only 16.7% of companies indicated that they increased their sales abroad in relation to the previous quarter. In line with the recovery in employment, the percentage of companies with an increase in staffing reached 23% in January and exceeded the values for the same period in 2021, when the figure reached 17.3%.
Regarding expectations, the index remained in positive territory. 51% of the companies surveyed indicated that they expect their economic situation to be better in the coming year. Meanwhile, 46% expected that activity specifically in their sector would also improve.
