There was no agreement on the price of freight and the strike of grain carriers continues

The Federation of Argentine Transporters (FETRA) reported that “in the meeting held today at the Ministry of Transportation, no agreement was obtained on updating the grain freight rate.” “The agricultural entities deny the real price of diesel that the carriers are paying and offered an increase that does not cover the costs of the activity”said the entity in a press release.

The federation stressed: “It is our duty to represent the reality of the sector and continue fighting to achieve reasonable working conditions. That is why the claim continues.”

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Transportation, Giuliano Diegolamented the lack of agreement: “We have operated as mediators, generating this space for consensus, which unfortunately failed to lift the strike,” he said.

“We are willing to continue calling for dialogue between the parties as many times as necessary, because it is very important to guarantee mobility, in this case of cargo, in the time that Argentina is experiencing,” Giuliano added

The strike carried out by FETRA causes losses of some US$100 million a day, since the grains cannot be exported. This was expressed by the president of the Chamber of the Oil Industry and the Cereal Exporters Center (Ciara-CEC), Gustavo Idígoras.

According to the businessman, there are about 200,000 tons that, since last Monday, are no longer unloaded at the port terminals. “We are waiting for 50 ships for cargo. There are 100 million dollars that cannot be achieved, but when the strike is lifted, we will try to recover it,” he pointed out.

At the meeting on Wednesday, representatives of the National Directorate of Automotive Freight Transport, of the Undersecretary of Agriculture; of the Argentine Chamber of Automotive Cargo Transport (CATAC); of the Argentine Federation of Freight Transport Business Entities (FADEEAC); of the Federation of Argentine Transporters (FETRA); of the Argentine Federation of Transport and Logistics Entities (FAETYL); Coninagro; of the Federation of Collectors; of the Argentine Rural Society (SRA), among others.

The carriers also demanded that the supply of fuel be guaranteed at a price that allows them to plan their economic equation.
