The statement was made within the framework of the announcement of monetary aid for informal workers, from private homes, monotributistas and retirees, as a result of the blow suffered by the income of Argentines in the first three months of 2022 as a result of an inflation of 16%, the highest for this period since 1991.
In this sense, Guzman assured that the Government has a “full commitment to the fulfillment of the goals” since it considers that it is what “is going to help so that Argentina can have the appropriate conditions to continue recovering and to reduce inflation”, despite specific adaptations of income and social protection policy to the current situation.
The measures communicated by the minister on this day included:
- Two installments of $9,000 for workers between 18 and 65 years of age without formal income, class A and B monotributists, and registered and unregistered workers in private homes
- A quota of $12,000 for retirees and pensioners who receive up to two minimum pensions, which is added to a previous bonus of $6,000 that had been granted to older adults
Meanwhile, Guzmán will travel to Washington later to attend the IMF’s spring meeting, days before the agency’s first review of the Argentine economy scheduled for May.
