The industry grew 1.8% year-on-year in March, according to FIEL

Thus, the data corresponding to the first quarter show that the industry reached a rate of recovery of 3.1% in the year-on-year comparison.

In the quarter and in the comparison with the same period of 2021, the automotive industry led the growth ranking with a year-on-year improvement of 20.5%, followed by the production of paper and cellulose (11.3%), metalworking (8.9%)chemical and plastic inputs (6.6%) and non-metallic minerals (4.5%), and the production of textile inputs (2.1%) was below the industry average.

The branches of food and beverages (+0.2%) and basic metal industries (-0.4%) reached a production level similar to that of the first quarter of the previous year.

Oil production (-2.7%) and cigarette shipments (-9%) were on the negative path.

In the quarter, the growth ranking of industrial production grouped by type of goods was led by durable consumer goods (+17.6%); The production of intermediate-use goods advanced 1.8% compared to the same period in 2021, while capital accumulated a moderate improvement (1.1%).

Finally, the production of non-durable consumer goods -food, beverages, tobacco products- accumulated a decline of 1.1% in the interannual comparison.
