Guzmán closed his agenda in Washington with an enriching meeting with the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF

Guzmán attended this week the meetings of the Spring Assembly of the IMF and the World Bank with an agenda of bilateral meetings that yesterday included a meeting with the head of the Fund Kristalina Georgievwith whom he analyzed the progress of the debt renegotiation agreement with the country reached at the beginning of March.

At the end of this tour, the head of the Palacio de Hacienda held this afternoon the meeting with Gopinath in which they discussed on the agreement reached between Argentina and the international organization, the context of the war in Ukraine and the inflationary pressures and challenges that the war generates, informed the Ministry of Economy.

Meanwhile, the IMF official also turned to social networks to leave her opinion on the meeting. “It was good to meet with the Minister of Finance of Argentina @Martin_M_Guzman and have a broad discussion, including our shared experience in academia and public service,” said the economist of Indian origin.

Yesterday, Guzmán, in dialogue with Argentine journalists, assured that the goals of Argentina’s agreement with the Fund “they are not going to change” and they are even going to “prioritize the expenses of social protection”.

After the meeting he held the day before with Georgieva, the minister stressed that “we have exceeded the fiscal goals for the first quarter, and we have managed to accumulate reserves.”
