“The increase in market demand is driving the national production of our value chain, although with tensions due to shortages and supply problems, as is the case in most countries in the world,” the entity specified.
Likewise, he indicated that both “the pandemic first and the war in Ukraine later meant a severe blow to global value chains (GVCs), not only in terms of international price increases but also of difficulty in accessing strategic supplies in time and way”.
In this regard, he stated that, although the national production of clothing rose by 8.1% year-on-year in February and that of yarns and fabrics by 11%, “it faces limits due to the shortage of trained workers and various productive inputs.”
“Global problems in supply chains generated by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine still persist, leading to product shortages,” the Chamber contextualized. On the other hand, garment imports increased 72.3% year-on-year.
