Santiago Cafiero met with Italian industrialists to speed up investment projects

Before the businessmen, Cafiero highlighted the process of “recovery of the Argentine industry -which had been severely hit- and of the levels of employment in our country, and how it is projected with new vectors of technological development, innovation and the participation of new drivers related with the energy transition.

“Argentina has a relevant place in the energy transition, fundamentally in the development of mining and the chemical industry, as a result of the lithium extraction projects. If we continue with this level of production of that mineral, Argentina will be the second largest lithium exporter in the world this year”, he assured.

Cafiero was accompanied by the Argentine ambassador to Italy, Roberto Carlés; the Chief of Staff of the Foreign Ministry, Luciana Tito; the head of the Economic and Investment Promotion Section of the Argentine embassy, ​​Leandro Salinardi; and Alejandro Luppino, head of the Political Section.

In addition, he highlighted the regulatory framework with tax benefits that exists for the knowledge economy and the possibilities of opening the Italian market for this sector. “Knowledge-based services are already the third largest export sector in our country, and thanks to the law – which promotes new technologies – today we have a large number of startups” in this area.

During the meeting, Cafiero indicated that, although “our great concern is inflation, the real economy has been generating great possibilities, and growth continues to drive job creation.” In this sense, he highlighted the importance of renewable energies and electromobility, in addition to other dynamic sectors of our economy, such as tourism, telecommunications, oil and gas, mining and agribusiness. “The growth of our exports in the last quarter is a record not only in value but also in quantities, and we have very good prospects for this year,” he said.

CONFINDUSTRIA, through its territorial and commercial associations, is the main representative organization of companies producing goods and services in Italy. It is divided into 223 organizations and groups voluntarily some 150,000 companies of all sizes and business formulas, distributed throughout the Italian territory.

“The war is an extra challenge for us, based on our country’s ability to be a food supplier,” considered the head of the Palacio San Martín, in line with what was discussed hours earlier in Rome with authorities from the World Food Program. (WFP) and FAO (UN).

“Argentina has gas reserves to supply Europe and the world until the energy transition determines a modification of the energy matrix. Argentina has the resource, what it has not been able to develop is the industry around that resource. Today that is strategic for Argentina, and we have developed legal frameworks that protect investment through the Central Bank, with different tools that promote foreign direct investment”, said the foreign minister.
