In this way, from the invoice corresponding to May, cell phone providers will be able to apply the first of the increases, for “any of their plans in the postpaid and mixed modalities.”
In July, they will be able to increase their prices another 9.5%, giving an accumulated rise of 19%. The same will happen with the licensees of Value Added Internet Access Services (SVA-I), Fixed Telephony Services (STF), Subscription Broadcasting Services through physical and radioelectric link (SRSVFR) and Audiovisual Communication Services Subscription Broadcasting via satellite link (DTH).
Meanwhile, the prices for the “pure prepaid modality” of cellular telephony were set as follows:
a) Recharge of 50 MB of mobile data per day: $27.40 in May and $30 in July, taxes included.
b) Second voice: $0.42 in May and $0.46 in July, taxes included.
c) SMS: $5.50 in May and $6 in July, taxes included.
The ENACOM warned that any change that companies “eventually make on their plans, prices and commercial conditions in accordance with the authorizations of increases approved in this Resolution, they must be communicated ” to the national authorities.
The Government stressed that any increase in retail prices that had been applied by the companies and “that exceeds the values expressly authorized”, must be reimbursed to its users in the next invoice to be issued, with updating and interest subject to the same rate of interest applied for late payment.
In addition, in those cases in which a client does not pay their invoice with these increases not approved by ENACOM, the providers “must refrain from computing the current legal deadlines to proceed with the suspension of the service or apply, with cause in said invoices, the other provisions in force.
