The proposal of the former Minister of Social Development seeks replicate the operation of the Central Market in different parts of the country. It contemplates the decentralization of funds from the national State to provincial and municipal governments for the constitution, equipment and operation of the markets. To increase the offer, the implementation of specific lines of credit at a subsidized rate with public guarantee is included; the establishment of tax, labor and credit benefits, among others.
As explained by legislative sources to Ámbito, the markets may be public, private (with the participation of cooperatives) or mixed. In addition to marketing locally and regionally, they will be able to provide storage and refrigeration services. In order to finance these spaces in a complementary way, a Trust will be formed that will be nourished by public and private contributions.
In the Government they confirmed to this medium that the initiative that will arrive tomorrow at parliament was prepared by a legislator, but has the support of the Executive. “It is clear that the most serious problem facing our country today is inflation. We need a comprehensive anti-inflation program and one of the axes is to generate a very profound change in the production and marketing of food, with measures that guarantee access to a healthy and quality basic food basket,” said Arroyo.
The idea is that this program is executed by some directorate of the Ministry of Productive Development. The intention is to separate it from the field of Social Development to mark that the proposal is focused on strengthening the framework of the social economy and peasant agriculture, as well as guaranteeing access to fair prices for the entire population.
In line with this proposal, the Central Market is offering municipalities to bring fairs with their products to each municipality that suggests it. In addition, the Secretary of Commerce, led by Roberto Feletti, expanded the Care Prices basket and added fruits and vegetables. In a first stage, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and apples can be obtained as part of the plan in the large supermarket chains of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires.
