Supplier Miba back to pre-crisis level

According to a press release, 11 percent of sales are already made with products for power generation and transmission. All business areas have grown, the friction linings division being the strongest, which with 220 million euros contributes almost 25 percent to sales. Demand for components for energy-efficient, economical drives in the wind, electric drives, construction and agricultural machinery sectors was particularly high.

Energy efficiency is also at the core of the “Miba 100” growth strategy, according to which the company aims to achieve sales of EUR 1.5 billion by its 100th anniversary in 2027. 500 million euros are to be invested in this. “We want to grow in technologically demanding niches along the entire energy value chain – i.e. with Miba products for our customers’ end applications for the sustainable generation, transmission, storage and use of energy,” explained CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer.

Mitterbauer emphasized that the growth path will be supported by the great financial independence with an equity ratio of 50.5 percent in the 2021/22 financial year. Research and development are very important. In the past financial year, more than 40 million euros were spent on this, which is a quota of 4.2 percent, 300 employees work in the area. In the previous year, Miba invested EUR 1.6 million in the training and further education of all around 7,400 employees.

They also want to grow with solutions for electrification. Miba has already invested EUR 60 million in building up its e-mobility business. Many of the products from this area – components for electric motors and electric drives, battery systems and battery components such as cooling technology, power electronics or safety systems – are now in series production or are about to be used.

Miba has 30 production sites and around 7,400 employees worldwide. 58 percent of the turnover of 971 million euros was generated in the industrial goods business, 42 percent in the automotive segment.
