All the companies present agreed that, by representing an average price much lower than that of products that are outside it, the +Precios Care basket has high levels of demand, which is expressed in the ever-increasing orders of supermarkets on those goods.
The Secretary of Internal Trade of the Nation, Roberto Feletti met with the main food companies that are part of +Precios Cares. The reason for the meeting was to monitor issues related to the supply of the program and evaluate the evolution of prices in general.
During the work table, Feletti highlighted that this Friday was the first of a series of meetings that are going to be implemented on a regular basis with the companies that participate in +Precios Cares, an issue that was agreed upon with the Ministries of Economy and Productive Development of the Nation.
Regarding the supply of the program, the Secretary warned that, based on a survey carried out by the Directorate of Inspections of the Ministry of Internal Trade on 1,350 supermarkets in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, it is observed that the level of compliance shows 65%. , while historically this number stood at 75%.
On the other hand, from the Secretary of Commerce it was also highlighted that the supply of the 60 products that make up the Care Prices basket for local businesses will be strongly controlled, which arose from the agreement that the Government signed with the General Confederation of Labor and the Argentine Industrial Union on April 5.
“The supply of both +Precios Cares both in supermarkets and in local businesses is a priority of our Government and we are not going to allow any type of speculation or abuse in that regard. The Ministry of Commerce is available to work together with all of you in whatever is necessary, but we will not endorse behaviors that harm access to food for Argentines.”
