At the meeting, Guzmán and YPF representatives also evaluated the national government’s plans to boost LNG production in the country.
And work was done on the perspectives of increasing the production of fertilizers in Argentina, a segment that includes a million-dollar project to expand the capacity of the company Profertil, in the Bahía Blanca petrochemical complex.
The Government promotes the LNG industry as an export project, through a strategy of articulation with national and foreign companies and G20 member countries that ensures a demand that justifies embarking on the development of the infrastructure linked to the gas potential of Vaca Muerta .
The first talks were carried out by Guzmán in recent weeks, within the framework of the meeting of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in Paris, and meetings with ministers from different G20 countries held in Washington, in the midst of the Assembly of the (boreal) Spring of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
There is a broad consensus in the energy industry that LNG will play an important role in the coming decades for the development of the least carbon-emitting matrices towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050, as a reliable and flexible resource for transition and complementation towards renewable energies.
Also participating in the meeting were the Secretary of Economic Policy, Fernando Mora; the Legal and Administrative Secretary, Rita Tanuz; the Undersecretary of Energy Planning, Santiago Lopez Osornio; and the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, Maggie Luz Videla Porto.
Also present were the director of YPF on behalf of the National State, Damian Panigo; the Director of the Central Bank, William Hang; the Vice President of Gas and Energy of YPF, Santiago Martinez Tanoira; the Vice President of Downstream, Mauricio Martin; and the company’s CFO Alexander Daniel Lew.
