“It is great news that international investors are betting on Argentina and more precisely in an industry such as the audiovisual industry,” said Manzur after the meeting at Casa Rosada.
The Cabinet chief recalled that this industry “generates a significant number of jobs in our country and around the world, and also it is an open door for new entrepreneurial opportunities to arise”.
Kulfas, for his part, specified after the meeting that “Mediapro reinforces its presence in Argentina with a very important investment”, and added that “it is a weighty group that has a presence in the audiovisual sector, the content sector and sports broadcasts”.
Mediapro’s initial investment to enter the Argentine market is close to US$ 30 million (about 28.5 million euros) and includes the acquisition of transmission rights assigned by Disney, the CNDC recently reported. The agreement falls within the framework of Disney’s divestment process after the acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
The channels operate under the names of Fox Sports, Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports 3 with more than 8 million subscribers and more than 4,000 annual hours of original content.
For Benet, founding partner of the Mediapro Group, “with the acquisition of Fox Sports channels, one of the leading sports channels in Argentina, Mediapro consolidates its position in the country and throughout South America“.
