The meeting was held at the Scientific and Technological Pole, within the framework of the Interinstitutional Council for Science and Technology (CICyT) with the presence of the authorities of the national science and technology organizations.

In this way, the national government will increase the resources allocated to Science and Technology, which this year will continue to evolve as they have done since 2019, an official statement said.

In that year, investment in the sector was $49,053 (0.22% of GDP), and rose to $65,595 million (0.24% of GDP) in 2020, and $116,273 million (0.25% of GDP) in 2021.

In this line, In 2022, the national government will guarantee compliance with the Financing Law of the National Science, Technology and Innovation System (Law 27,614) and will allocate $218,621 million (0.31% of GDP) in the Science Budget.

At the opening, Filmus pointed out that “the presence of the Minister of Economy here, who is also a Conicet researcher, is not accidental but has to do with his assessment of the importance of science and technology for the development of Argentina”.

Our commitment is that the budget increase to which the Law commits us translates into three aspects that are central to us: the transformation of the production model, the resolution of the problems of our people and the strengthening of national sovereignty”.

The science minister explained that “the budget that we present today is going to strictly comply with the 0.31% of GDP that corresponds to us by the Science and Technology Financing Law for 2022. Next year we will be in the values 2015 investmentthat is the reality of a country that if it does not have State policies in Science and Technology it is coming and going permanently, which in terms of Science and Technology is unfeasible because there is no other alternative than the medium and long term” .

For its part, Guzmán highlighted the importance of the State promoting investment in science and technologyand explained that “the countries of the world that manage to have the most vibrant trajectories of economic and social progress are those that manage to build relative abundance in what does not move from one place to another. The ability to create knowledge and apply it does not move easily. in the production”.

Likewise, Guzmán stated that “Argentina has to create knowledge that allows critical sectors for adding value and foreign exchange to have a more dynamic pattern in industry and agribusiness, energy, software and others.”
