The job market is on the move. According to a survey, many younger people are open to a new job. One factor now counts that is difficult to measure in euros and cents.
According to a new study, many younger employees in Germany can imagine changing jobs.
It’s not primarily about money, according to a survey of 18- to 40-year-olds commissioned by the auditing and consulting firm EY. Around three out of five respondents stated that the working atmosphere in the team was important to very important to them.
“Employees, especially younger professionals, want to try things out more often today,” said EY board member Jan-Rainer Hinz. Companies should therefore address the situation of their employees. That means: flexibility in terms of development opportunities, place of work and private life. “And it also means for companies that a positive atmosphere and work culture are immensely important in order to keep good employees – and to attract new ones,” said Hinz.
A good three out of five respondents stated that they were open to a new employer. A fifth are even actively looking for a new job. Around a quarter said the reason for a change was dissatisfaction with the salary.
In order to remain motivated after a change, women in particular want a pleasant working environment. 46 percent of the female respondents indicated that this was important to them. For men, on the other hand, it was only 28 percent.
