The increase was particularly evident in building construction, where prices rose by 14.1 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Residential and settlement construction increased by 13.5 percent. With an increase of one percent, civil engineering showed a significantly lower increase, as Statistics Austria announced.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, prices in building construction and civil engineering rose by 2.6 percent in the first three months of this year, the statisticians said on Tuesday. Accordingly, construction work such as roof sealing work, timber construction, glass facades, sheet metal work and metal construction work were primarily responsible for the increase in prices in building construction within a year. In other building construction, too, prices were significantly higher than a year ago, at 14.9 percent.
