Expiration of Earnings and Personal Assets Postponed

Expiration of Earnings and Personal Assets Postponed

“Clearly it is not enough, just over a week,” said Vicente Lourenzo, tax advisor for small and medium-sized companies and director of the Chamber of Professional Economic and Tax Studies (CEPET).

The proposition of the professionals is that the AFIP’s delay in enabling the system to load the sworn statements and settle the annual tax caused them to be combined with other maturities, which generates an accumulation of administrative tasks on the part of the studies. The CEPET presented a note to the AFIP in which it demanded that the deadline be postponed to the end of July.

Among the arguments, it is pointed out that after a period in which the collection agency refrained from initiating inspections, due to the effects of the pandemic, now the audits have resumed, and that implies a greater workload for the accountants who have to gather information. .

About, Gabriela Russo, head of the Professional Council of Economic Sciences of the City of Buenos Aires, pointed out that “the applications were made available on Thursday and we are already seeing that they present errors when entering.” “According to the original calendar, the expiration would begin on June 13. AFIP informed us that they would go to 24 but it is not enough. It must be taken into account that the applications should be available at the beginning of the year, since it is the settlement of a tax from the previous year,” said Russo. The head of the Council indicated that “we always ask that, at least, they be ready 60 days before the expiration date in order to present it correctly, but they postponed 10 days, and on top of that there are two holidays, taking into account the time the body took to put it available”.

On the other hand, the professionals questioned the last decision of the AFIP to prevent the use of computer programs for carrying out information uploads in an automated manner, called “bots”. The measure mainly affects the most important accounting firms, due to the cost of investing in this type of technology.

The AFIP reported that “bots” cannot be used due to computer security problems. The use of these programs speeds up administrative tasks, through functions such as data import and export. Now the studios have to do the tasks manually.

Lourenzo considered that this decision does not have as much impact on independent accountants and small firms, who are not able to make that investment, and do not handle a level of data that justifies the expense. “These bots can do the work of two or three employees,” he explained.

Russo said in this regard that there was a meeting with AFIP officials. “They listened to our concerns and told us that they were going to evaluate our proposals to protect the balance. We understand that taxpayer information must be safeguarded, but this does not have to go against technological progress to the detriment of professionals and taxpayers who invested in these tools”, he pointed out.
