In a harsh statement, the entity came out at the crossroads of the president’s statements that requested the support of Congress against a possible increase in withholdingswhile the Minister of Agriculture, Julian Dominguezcontradictorily denied that possibility.
“The lack of ideas or intelligent alternatives from the different economic managers to achieve a balanced state is extremely surprising”maintained CARBAP when criticizing the Government’s inefficiency in curbing the rise in prices.
“We say that (the President) is technically wrong in thinking that withholdings decouple international prices, and the facts show it”CARBAP pointed out in direct criticism of the president. “The problem is not prices but inflation”added the critical statement signed by the head of the entity, Horace Salaverri.
In insisting on its criticism of the president, CARBAP assured that “It is politically wrong in the short term to think that Argentina can perhaps withstand a greater tax pressure“. And by rejecting the increase in withholdings, CARBAP justified that “every time you think about increasing the rates of export duties on agricultural products, it does nothing but delay the development of the country“.
The president of the Argentine Rural Society (MRS), Nicolas Pinoreiterated that the collection of withholdings made by the Government “it does not have a law that supports it”. And he added that the president’s statements “provoked me among frustration and anger. At a time when Argentina needs more production and more work to earn foreign currency and to curb the shameful inflation in which we live, let the president say so it’s annoying“.
The head of the SRA added that “We ask the Government for certainties and they respond with more uncertainty, it is not understood what movie the President is watching”.
For his part, the vice-president of Coninagro, Elbio Lauciricasaid “I am surprised by the President’s ignorance about the impact of the price of wheat on bread and that he continues to talk about decoupling when by this means he is not going to achieve the results he intends”.
“Because of the low incidence in the price of bread and because in the face of these declarations of intervention in the market and the rise in withholdings the only thing it achieves is lower production and deepen the problemLaucirica added.
The head of the Argentine Agrarian Federation, Carlos Achatoniharshly questioned the president and warned that the field “will give the fight that has to be given” to avoid it. “If they really think about touching the retentions again, we will give the fight that has to be given in Congress, in the streets, on the routes and in all the necessary areas”said the leader.
Achetoni assured that “If they want to take us ahead again, we will meet again with the necessary political forces. We are not going to allow them to want to attack us”.
