The Government authorized new values for bioethanol and could generate an impact on the supplier

According to the document published this Monday, for operations carried out from May 9 onwards, it will be marketed at $80,561 per liter and “will be valid until the publication of a new price that replaces it.” At the same time, it clarifies that “The payment period for bioethanol made from sugar cane and corn may not exceed, in any case, THIRTY (30) calendar days from the date of the corresponding invoice.

Bioethanol, whether it is produced from sugar cane or corn-based, is mixed with gasoline and has cars as its final destination. That is why the increase could generate an impact on consumer prices at service stations, which will seek to transfer to users the increase that the State granted to fuel producers. Unless, it is the Government itself that absorbs said increase.

In the recitals of the Resolution, the Government indicated that, “according to the information provided by YPF Sociedad Anónima regarding the price variation implemented on May 9, 2022 for grade two and three gasoline marketed through the service stations owned by them in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires”, it was necessary “Determine the acquisition prices of bioethanol made from sugar cane for compulsory blending with gasoline, which will govern until a new price replaces them.” At the beginning of 2021, the Government decided to increase the price of bioethanol like that of biodiesel in a phased manner.

Likewise, the national authorities recalled that on April 17 last, the amounts of that which is made from corn were set, which will have a series of staggered increases to compensate for the “substantial imbalances” between the value in which it was marketed and its production costs.
