Some time ago, on April 11, grain transporters, integrated into the Federation of Argentine Transporters (Fetra), had also carried out a national strike due to lack of fuel. The protest lasted several days until the problem was solved. But again fuel shortages affect carriers.
YPF issued a statement on Wednesday in which it assured that it will increase the supply of diesel to meet the growing demand, a record in the last 10 years.
“YPF’s priority is the supply of diesel in the domestic market in line with its historical market share and it makes its maximum efforts in production, import and logistics to sustain a growing demand. It should be noted that in the last three months of the year the demand of diesel was located at levels that were not recorded 10 years ago,” says the statement released by the company.
This increase in the demand for diesel is directly linked to the increase in activity in segments such as agriculture and industry and with an increase in consumption due to a greater demand for land transport.
In addition, there is an extraordinary demand associated with the consumption of vehicles with foreign patents, especially in border areas where growth of more than 30% is recorded.
“YPF closely follows the evolution of the diesel supply and is working with each of the provinces to be able to solve the specific problems that are being generated and to be able to reach every point in the country with its fuels,” he concludes. According to official information, the problem could be resolved in the next few days.
