Meanwhile, the member of the CAA Biofuels table, Luis Zubizarretasaid that “in this situation of diesel scarcity, free competition biodiesel is presented as a viable short-term alternative.”
“Argentina is importing gas oil, while we have available biodiesel plants with high idle capacity that could go out to supply at market prices,” he said.
Zubizarreta explained that “the CAA proposes that it be established by resolution of the Ministry of Energy, that beyond the current mandatory cut of 5% for SMEs, mixing companies can use biodiesel up to a maximum of 15% through a free market offer and demand”.
The manager added that “the companies in charge of carrying out the compulsory mixtures freely acquire this additional biodiesel, agreeing on the price and supply of the products with any of the biodiesel producing companies registered in Argentina.”
Zubizarreta emphasized that “in this way, supply will be ensured in the best possible conditions of quality and price for the consumer”; and affirmed that “with a simple resolution from the Ministry of Energy, the country would solve its supply problems, at a competitive price and with the best quality.”
