the volume exported fell 7.7% annually in April

Regarding income from foreign sales of beef, in April 2022 they amounted to 293.9 million dollars.

The drop in export volume was more than offset by the rise in the average price declared by the Argentine meatpacking industry (+54.8% annually vs. -7.7% annually; the price went from 4,063 dollars per ton pp to 6,288 dollars per tn pp), with which the turnover increased 42.9% annually (+88.3 million dollars).

In the January-April period of the current year, foreign sales of beef totaled 184.6 thousand tons.

In the year-on-year comparison, a drop of 7.0% (-13,980 tons) was observed.

Total revenue reached a level of 1,077.2 million dollars in January-April 2022, which showed an increase of 30.7% year-on-year (+252.8 million dollars).

The private document indicated that the increase in the average price declared by the exporters was the explanatory variable.

The average price reached 5,834 dollars per ton in the first four months of the year and was 40.6 percent higher than that registered in the same period of 2021.

From Ciccra they pointed to the Government by assuring that “the two most publicized actions from the Ministry of Agriculture have been just that, advertising.”

In this sense, they explained that “the WIN plan has not reached the refrigeration industry, as promised, and if the province of Buenos Aires, through its bank, does not implement the circular so that the branches can offer it to their clients, it is impossible for it to increase the retention of bellies and, therefore, the production of calves”.

Meanwhile, they indicated that “the other publicized action is the non-closure of exports, and despite the fact that Minister Domínguez bothers him, the partial closure of exports has generated a drop in volume of the order of 7 percent.”

In the fifth month of the year, 95,753 animals were sold on the Liniers ranch market, a number almost identical to that traded in April.

Meanwhile, the average price experienced a monthly drop of 2.6 percent and was located at $233.6 per live kilo.

This was the product of drops in the values of cows, bulls and EYM, which offset the increases observed in the prices of steers, heifers and steers.

After this correction, when compared to the beginning of spring 2021, the average price of cattle farms registered an increase of 59.1% (the monthly equivalent rate fell to +5.3%) and if compared to April In 2021, the month prior to the start of the new restrictions on exports, the average price accumulated a similar rise (accounting for the stagnation that occurred as a result of the aforementioned restrictions).

In the monthly comparison (May vs. April 2022) it was the average price of steers that showed the highest nominal increase (3.3%), followed by the unit value of heifers (2.2%) and steers (0.4%).

On the other side of the line were the cows and bulls, with average falls of 6.5% and 6.3% per month, respectively, and the MEJ, whose unit value experienced a retraction of 2.7 percent.
