The delivery service Gorillas wants to add four own brands to its range from June. Among other things, there will also be beer and coffee as in-house products.
The food delivery service Gorillas wants to supply its customers with its own products for the first time. From Thursday (June 9), four own brands are to be included in the range. More are to follow in the summer, the Berlin start-up announced in a press release. In addition to spreads and cold cuts, Gorillas wants to offer its own coffee beans, two craft beers and a “premium” section with fresh pasta, among other things. The products are to be delivered in Germany, France, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Gorillas under fire for working conditions
The start-up, which was founded two years ago, allows customers to order groceries via an app; the delivery should only take ten minutes. With the growth of the company, however, criticism was also raised last year – bicycle couriers had gone on strike because of poor working conditions and protested against layoffs, as the star reported. The company then made headlines by dismissing employees involved in the month-long strikes without notice. The drivers now have a works council.
The group recently announced far-reaching job cuts and laid off 300 administrative employees.
