General Motors announced to Alberto Fernández that it will invest US0 million in Argentina

In this framework, the visit to the United States began on the right foot as it received confirmation of new investments by the president of General Motors International, Shilpan Amin, in a meeting held in the afternoon.

The company told Fernández that it will disburse a total of US$350 million to produce the Chevrolet Tracker at the company’s plant in Rosario, Santa Fe. This is the first major investment announcement received by the head of state in the context of the summit.

Fernández and Amin talked for more than an hour, in the company of the head of the Renovating Front, Serge Massa, of the chancellor, santiago cafiero and the Argentine ambassador to the US, Jorge Arguello. There was also considered the possibility that said amount will increase to US$900 million.

The production of the Chevrolet Tracker, a top-of-the-range SUV, would have as its main objective to expand exports to Latin American countries, mainly Brazil and Colombia.
