APM joins Maersk’s global solidarity campaign

The “shelter suits” are self-supporting sleeping bags specially designed for the purpose of rethinking the role of clothing in the context of a society with housing problemsthat is why they are prepared to face adverse weather situations, and are made with waterproof and high-quality materials from sleeping bags, quilts and resistant tent fabrics.

Robbert Van Trooijen, regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, said: “For us, it is part of our social responsibility to support a foundation like Sheltersuit, which has created a significant impact in the most vulnerable communities, not only by delivering shelter suits but creating a network to make them and in our case providing the logistical capacity to make them reach the whole world”.

For his part, Bas Timmer stated that “there are too many people in the world who are forced to sleep outdoors. When companies like Maersk support, many more people can be reached. Not only because of the financial help they can offer, but also because of their reputation, their network and their knowledge of the local environment”.

Silvia Iglesias, CEO of APM Terminals Buenos Aires, added: “This initiative adds to all the efforts that we have been making at the terminal in terms of CSR at the local level, thanks to the commitment of our collaborators and networking with NGOs. We are also proud to be able to include Argentina in this global campaign that focuses on a very worrying need in Latin America, such as the street situation. We will continue working to be a better and more supportive port every day”.
