End of an era for the Linz software veteran

Leopold Bauernfeind and Helmut Fallmann were 22 years young when they founded the software company Fabasoft in Linz in 1988. Today, Thursday, 34 years later, on the occasion of the announcement of the annual figures, Bauernfeind took stock at his last press conference. As reported, the 55-year-old is resigning from his position on the board on June 30 “for private reasons”. He will stay with the company in an advisory capacity until March next year.

“I’m leaving Fabasoft in extremely good hands and I’m happy about the new structure,” said Bauernfeind. Helmut Fallmann is now the sole chairman of the board, supported by the technical director Oliver Albl and Matthias Wodniok, who is also moving into the boardroom. Both Albl and Wodniok have been working in the company for more than 20 years.

The increasing digitization, intensified by the corona pandemic, also played into Fabasoft’s hands in the past financial year (as of March 31). Sales increased from 55.1 to 58.3 million euros, the operating result (EBIT) fell from 13.9 to 11.5 million euros. Fallmann and Bauernfeind attribute this to higher spending on research and development and personnel costs. The number of employees rose from 326 to 386.

The growth driver in the Fabasoft Group is the subsidiary Mindbreeze, in which Fabasoft has increased its stake from 76 to 85.5 percent. Mindbreeze helps other companies collect data and filter it in such a way that they keep track of the total amount.
