With the forecasts on the Mexican economy, the organism added that it will evolve down 1.3 percentage points from the 3 percent estimate in its January report.
Expectations for 2023 were also adjusted lower, to 1.9% compared to 2.2% forecast six months ago. The institution advanced its forecast for 2024, which is from one 2% rate for Mexico’s GDP.
The US economy will slow down in the next couple of yearsfrom a growth of 5.7 percent in 2021 to 2.5 percent for 2022 and 2.4 and 2 percent in 2023 and 2024, respectively, according to data from the report Global Economic Prospects of June.
The World Bank forecast for Latin America
As a region, Latin America and the Caribbean will have a growth of 2.5% in 2022 that will decrease to 1.9% in 2023 to rebound to 2.4% in 2024.
The world economy will slow its growth in 2022 to almost half of what it expanded in 2021, with 2.9% growth, after 5.7 the previous year.
The World Bank also warned about the increased risk of stagflation due to higher inflation and more restrictive financial conditions in a context of war.
