“We are generating a more efficient rail freight transport system, with more users, with greater accessibility to regional economies. The road is the truck and it is the railway, with logistics and multimodal nodes, reaching the ports, making an intelligent transport that lowers costs and is friendly to the environment”, he added.
To conclude, Guerrera highlighted: “We have to reverse logistics costs in the interior and the logistics node that we are inaugurating today is a clear example of this. And it is complemented by other logistics nodes that the National Government is developing throughout the country and for the benefit of all Argentines.
The head of TAC, Daniel Vispo, stated: “We are working very hard for the growth of cargo trains in Argentina. Yesterday 3 locomotives were repaired in Córdoba, now we are receiving 10 containers of grain from the national industry, and today we have come to inaugurate this logistics node, which is an articulated action between the business community, the Ministry authorities and the workers, valuing the city of San Francisco and the entire region.”
For his part, the president of the GCC business group, Alfredo Abboud, stated: “Today is an important day for multimodalism in general, and for the railway family in particular. This first Node is a clear example of public-private articulation, and we are convinced that this is the way works should be done in our country. From this Node we have access to the port of Rosario and all the terminals of the port of Buenos Aires, this brings all the markets closer to San Francisco.
The work will allow the development of new agro-industrial loads for export of non-traditional characteristics, the positive impact on local economies, boost national industry, diversify the productive matrix of the interior, strengthen the value chain, and strengthen commercial links with the opening of the agro-export frontier.
In addition, 10 containers of national industry for the transport of agricultural products built in national railway workshops were presented. These containers will serve to strengthen multimodality, because they are transported directly from the truck to the train, and are easily coupled. In total there will be 90 containers that will be incorporated into logistics thanks to an investment of 110 million pesos from the National State.
MIDDLE EAST: AN EXPORT OPPORTUNITY
The new logistics node in San Francisco, Córdoba, was carried out through coordinated actions between the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services for the United Arab Emirates, the National Ministry of Transport and the Transport Planning Secretariat, together with Trenes Argentinos Loads (CAT). This articulated work arose at the time of detecting the need for the international market in the Middle East, bringing national production closer and being direct participants in growth through the construction of the logistics node that concentrates the load, which was promoted by the national portfolio in charge of the Minister Alexis Guerrero.
In this way, the national production will benefit, promoting the multimodality of transport, since the alfalfa will arrive by truck, then it will be compacted and transferred in the CC branch of the Belgrano cargo line to later be dispatched through the ports of Rosario and Buenos Aires. Thus, this logistics node will have a direct impact on the regional economies of Córdoba, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero and Chaco.
The inauguration was attended by the president of the GCC business group, Alfredo Abboud; The Mayor of San Francisco, Damián Bernarte, the Secretary of Industrial Parks of the Ministry of Industry of Córdoba, Alejandra Barbero, and virtually, the Secretary of Transportation Planning of the Nation, Gastón Jaques; the Argentine Ambassador in Qatar, Marcelo Fabián Gilardoni; the Undersecretary for Trade and Investment Promotion of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Pablo Enrique Sívori; the Undersecretary for Multilateral and Bilateral Economic Negotiations, Carola Beatriz Ramón; the director of Economic Relations with Africa and the Middle East, María de los Ángeles Arrieta; the Chargé d’Affaires at the Argentine Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Gabriel Jorquera; the counselor at the Argentine Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Carlos Risso Domínguez; the Second Class Minister Plenipotentiary, Sergio Marcelo Spagnolo, among others.
