The budget in question is the same as for 2021; the one that with new macroeconomic data will be extended by decree, as a complement to 882/21, signed by President Alberto Fernández, the Chief of Staff Juan Manzur and Guzmán himself, and which was published on December 23 in the Official Gazette; and where it was indicated that “given the advanced stage of the 2021 Budget Year, it is not possible to immediately and precisely define the adjustments referred to in article 27 of the aforementioned law (Financial Administration Law), for which these will be carried out in a timely manner” .
Thenthe Minister of Economy will complete one of the last commitments signed with the body managed by Kristalina Georgieva, and will present the brand new alternative 2022 Budget to society.
Guzmán knows that this accounting exercise has to be completed, at least, at the same time as the IMF board meets to deal with the Argentine case and finishes approving the first examination of the country within the Extended Facilities, corresponding to the period January- March 2022, which was worked on virtually between the technicians of the agency and those of the Palacio de Hacienda.
It is known that there will be no problems for this green tick, and that the highest administrative authority of the Fund gave the nod even for the first steps of the next mission that must control and supervise the second quarter of the year. However, Guzmán knows that for this second round of controls linked to the second IMF mission (scheduled as this newspaper anticipated for July or August, no later), he will have to have the alternative budget published in the Official Gazette for this year.
