The rise occurs after the national government ordered an increase in the biodiesel cut from the current 5% to 7.5% of the total volume of diesel, exceptionally for 60 days.
At the same time, he created the Incentive Regime for Internal Fuel Supply (Riaic), by which the refiners may request an amount equivalent to what they must pay for taxes on Liquid Fuels and Carbon Dioxide on diesel imports.
The measure had the support of the refiners, who promised to “deepen their efforts to help alleviate the current situation”.
In this sense, “The refining sector accompanies the measures adopted by the national government with the aim of providing a solution to this situation, such as the temporary increase in the mandatory cut of biodiesel in diesel oil”, they indicated.
“Faced with this scenario, each company, in accordance with its commercial policy and based on its logistical particularities, will adopt the measures it deems most convenient to alleviate imbalances in demand,” the companies stressed.
According to the latest numbers released, during March-May 2022, the industry dispatched 3.9 million m3 of diesel, a record volume compared to pre-pandemic levels, since they were 12% more than in 2019 when 3 .4 million m3.
